Abstract
A base-mediated and Lewis acid catalyzed one-pot reaction between 2-alkenylphenyl-
substituted p-quinone methides and bromo-malonates has been developed to access a wide
range of naphthalene derivatives. Basically, this transformation involves two different steps,
i.e., (i) base-mediated cyclopropanation of 2-alkenylphenyl-substituted p-quinone methides
with bromo-malonates (ii) Lewis acid catalyzed intramolecular annulation of cyclopropenyl-
alkenes to form the naphthalene derivatives.
