Hilbert’s 16-th Problem

Abstract

Real projective plane algebraic curves and their classification problems are introduced. Topological classification problem and its solution is discussed. Isotopy classification prob- lem is discussed and the isotopy classification of curves upto degree 5 is looked upon. Isotopy types of curves upto degree 5 are constructed using marking method or small per- turbation method.
