Abstract
Pentacarbomethoxycyclopentadiene (PCCP) has been utilized as a non-covalent Br Ø nsted acid
for the intramolecular cyclization of alkenylated para-Quinone Methides to form indanone
based product. This transformation is tolerant to a variety of functional groups and occurs at
mild conditions. This methodology provides an easy and straightforward access to a set of
indanones in moderate to good yield which are present as a core in multiple natural products
like isopaucifloral (F), quadrangularin A etc.
