Abstract: Chemistry is in everything and everywhere and it is fun. Chemical Industry has made an unparalleled great impact on the quality of life. Chemistry is interdisciplinary and international. Chemical and molecular biology are important fields in which biologist and chemists are collaborating today; Biology's foundations are deeply rooted in Chemistry, e.g. The DNA double helix. The ever exciting and rewarding world of material science has Chemistry at its core e.g. Super magnets, superconductors, insulators, etc. The case of LED is really illuminating. Here physicists. Metallurgists and chemists are working together. In the emerging field of nanotechnology Chemistry plays a vital role and even well known pigments benefit through this area e.g. Precipitated calcium carbonate, TiO2, etc. Formulation engineering e.g. For drug delivery, including slow release medicines, depends heavily on Chemistry. We need to recognise the contribution of Chemistry to the widespread introduction of certain physical methods like NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. Nobel Laureate Lord Todd had said that the greatest contribution of Chemistry has been for polymers some of which are engineered materials; Polymeric membranes have made a great impact e.g. For desalination. Chemistry has played a vital role through the pill in population management and can excite you, vanquish pain and ulcers, put you to sleep and even stop running nose. We should all celebrate the prowess of Chemistry- Allied Sciences Interface.
